There is an unmistakable smell that's become quite prolific across Louisiana in the past few weeks. If you smell it there are actions you'll need to take.

On Wednesday, we gave you the news of a gas leak in St. Martin Parish. By dusk, people as far as Church Point could see it burning in the night sky.

Around lunch time on Sunday, Scott firefighters and the Lafayette Hazmat Response Team worked on getting a propane leak under control as a vapor cloud emitting from a tank at a local business caused officials to close a couple of roads in the area.

Centerpoint Energy is on scene to deal with the issue.

Employees with Lafayette Utilities Service accidentally busted a small gas line around 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, causing a gas leak in the 600 block of East Vermilion Street.

UPDATE - The Southbound lane of Johnston St. has been reopened.

The road is closed until further notice.

While LUS was doing repair work on a water line, crew members accidentally hit a gas line causing a leak at the intersection of Louisiana Avenue and South Orange Street.

The Scott Fire Department is currently on the scene of a gas leak along Old Spanish Trail in Scott.

There is a major gas leak in Eunice between North 8th & 9th Streets at Vine Street.

Lafayette Fire Department Spokesman Alton Trahan says the intersection of Ambassador at Dulles has opened back up, but the utilities are still off.

Traffic is now flowing, while the natural gas is not.
