The state of Louisiana has several dangerous roads to travel, but the most dangerous one runs through Lafayette, La.

The project will begin on Tuesday, September 5, 2023.

Officials are working to get a wrecker truck to the scene.

Some of the projects include improvements for I-10 and U.S. 90 in South Louisiana.

Road closures have begun as part of the U.S. 90 Widening Project. ALL of these closures are happening DAILY from 8 AM to 4 PM, weather permitting.

DOTD personnel are continuing their work on the U.S. 90 Widening Project. Each project is happening on Wednesday and Thursday (March 6-7).

Because of guardrail installation, US 90 WESTBOUND between Ambassador Caffery Parkway and the LA 182 overpass is closed today and Wednesday from 9 AM until 4 PM, weather permitting.

Highway 90 and Ambassador Caffery were closed for a short time last night as a result of the crash.

Because of the US 90 widening project and other needed road work, construction will be happening over the next few days in Lafayette and St. Mary Parishes.

The work will begin each night at 8 o'clock.

DOTD personnel will continue road and bridge construction at the intersection of US 90 at Albertsons Parkway/St. Nazaire Road.

DOTD asks drivers to be cautious in the construction zone.

This is part of the ongoing Geaux South program that is being continued to help widen Highway 90.

More repairs could be needed today and that could lead to single lane closures.

We've had quite an eventful day across Acadiana today with weather, and there's more on the way. So far, we've dealt with hail, flooding, 60mph winds and tornadoes. One Acadiana motorist was caught on Highway 90 during one of the hail storms and caught it all on his dash cam.

On Tuesday, the northbound outside lane and shoulder of US 90 East, between Albertson’s Parkway and Ambassador Caffery, will be closed for routine bridge inspections.

The work is expected to take a month to complete.

Beginning Tuesday and lasting until Thursday, the eastbound lane of US 90 between LA 668 and LA 88 (St. Mary/Iberia Parish line) in Iberia Parish will be closed for grading shoulders.
