Don Breaux, a career law enforcement officer who served four terms as Lafayette's sheriff at the end of the 20th Century, has died.

The new law was signed by Governor John Bel Edwards this week and will potentially add an additional $40k to the Lafayette City Marshal position.

Pope faces two other criminal issues.

Pope is accused of using public money for political purposes and then lying about that money under oath.
