The St. Landry Parish Sheriff's Office announced on Sunday that a vehicle was discovered in the Atchafalaya River in Melville.

The allegations come from events that happened years ago as victims started coming forward.

Sheriff Bobby J. Guidroz has confirmed the death and identity of a woman initially found unresponsive in a vehicle in the Melville area this past Sunday (8/7/22).

63-year-old Douglas Gerace of Melville has been charged with Sexual Battery after he allegedly crossed the line while giving a girl a hug.

The 12th annual Atchafalaya Catfish Festival will be held in Melville this weekend, with festivities being held at the Melville Civic Center!
