The Louisiana Department of Education (LDOE) handed out awards on Saturday as they named the state's top teachers and leaders at the 18th Annual Cecil J. Picard Educator Excellence Awards Gala in New Orleans.
After nearly 5,000 nominations were submitted this year in Lafayette Parish, a selection committee chose the educators and support staff who stood out the most.
The program is called "Keys for Service" and is designed to "help bridge the gap and make it easier and more affordable for our community heroes to purchase their dream homes."
