As the country music community grieves the death of the Mavericks' singer Raul Malo, his wife has taken to social media with a statement that describes how she'll remember him. Betty Malo shared that her husband died at 8:52PM on Dec. 8, ending his battle with cancer...

“Anyone with the pleasure of being in Raul’s orbit knew that he was a force of human nature, with an infectious energy."

'Let's all stand with him and rally,' Malo's wife urged fans.

Betty Malo says all the get-well messages are a much-needed respite from 'this hell we are living in.'

'The overwhelming support and love from my musician friends, fans, friends and family will prove these shows to be something special,' Malo says.

His cancer battle has "taken a turn," and it's very serious.

Raul Malo needs more time to recover after undergoing surgery as part of his cancer treatment earlier this month.

The band hopes this round of treatment will be "the final hurdle" in Malo's fight with cancer.

Malo didn't sugarcoat the reality of his symptoms, but he also stayed as positive as he shared an update on his cancer journey.

"Will be praying for Raul´s return to health."

"It's hard to hold a guitar up to my body. I don't even know if I could sing."

Malo says he'll begin treatment for his cancer this summer.

The Mavericks, Allison Russell and 49 Winchester are among the acts set to perform at the three-day event.
