According to a press release from Lafayette Parish School System's Central Office, an investigation has begun into some teachers at a middle school getting out of school early. The day in question is the last day that they were required to be on campus, which was Wednesday, May 25.

Witnesses told staff that teachers from the middle school were chauffeured to local restaurants aboard a school bus owned by a contract driver.

The students were not at the school. There last day was Tuesday, May 24.

Teachers reported to work on Wednesday to complete reports and any paperwork they may have had.

The press release indicates the issue is considered an personnel matter. Because of that, a recommendation about any possible disciplinary action would be made to the superintendent.
