Two Dead After Head-On Crash In Acadiana

Two people are dead after a head-on collision last night on Highway 182 near Annointing Street just before 10 o'clock Saturday night.

Louisiana State Police Spokesman Thomas Gossen reports in a press release that 43-year-old Ramando Fredrico Royston of Opelousas drive his car across the opposing lane on Highway 182 killing 20-year-old Brashley Renee Chambers of Opelousas.

Gossen says they have not yet determined why Royston crossed over into the other lane of traffic.

He says that Royston hit Chambers' Accord head-on and both drivers were killed.

Chambers was not wearing a seat belt, but Royston was.

There have been 18 fatalities since the start of this year.
