Can you even imagine not hearing from your loved one for a day, a week, a year?

What if you hadn't heard from your child, mother, niece in five years? Frustration is one of the many adjectives you might use to describe how you feel.

For the family of one Acadiana woman, hope is ever present, but so is a longing to know what happened.

It's been almost five years since anyone has seen or heard from Crystal Dupuis Grebinger.

The woman was last seen the day she left the Faith House shelter for abused and battered women in Lafayette.

Her family has worked tirelessly over the years, along with Louisiana State Police, to try to find out what happened to Crystal.

The mother of four was seeking a divorce from her husband of 16 years, Sean Grebinger at the time of her disappearance.

I have reached out via Facebook to attempt to contact Grebinger to ask him about his wife's disappearance.

Someone claiming to be Sean Grebinger called the Daily Advertiser in November of 2013 saying that he believed she was out west in California.

There were several court filings in relation to Sean Grebinger and Crystal.

At the time of the Advertiser story, Jessica Goff wrote,

"Sean Grebinger is wanted on bench warrants in Lafayette and St. Martin parishes on various charges from a traffic violation to assault on a school teacher to violating a protective order filed by his wife."

That was two years ago in February. Now we are coming up on five years since anyone has had any information about Crystal Grebinger.

Her friends told KPEL back in June of 2013, this mother would never have left her children. To hear the whole interview, click here.

Her family is frustrated that they have no new information about Crystal. They don't know if she is alive or dead. They don't know if she was abducted, or if she left to go off somewhere on her own free will.

What they do each day is work to find out information about her. The Facebook page, "Help Find Crystal Dupuis Grebinger" has plenty of posts and information about the woman, but no answers as to her fate.

According to the site, a sequined Sperry shoe was found at Lake Fausse Point by the water, and it was identified as belonging to the missing woman.

In fact, Louisiana Governor John Bel Edwards has proclaimed this Saturday, February 3, 2018 as "Missing Persons Day" in our state. It's a proclamation made to honor those families who continue, with deep sadness, to try to find their loved ones.

There will be a day to honor all the missing people in our state. It will be held in Parc Hardy in Breaux Bridge from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Crystal's aunt Jeanne Savoy says she will arrive at 10 a.m. to start setting up for the event. She says anyone who has a missing loved one is invited to attend. She's also hoping that the public will come out to support her family and others who continue to search for their loved ones.

This Thursday, February 8, 2018 will mark five years since the disappearance of Crystal.

How can their be no trace of this woman? How can no one come forward to shed light on what may have happened to this woman?

Will someone finally come forward with information about her? Does someone hold a key piece of evidence about this case, something they may not even think is important?

Will this case ever be solved, or will her family continue to spend years searching for answers that do no come.

Anyone with information about the disappearance of Crystal Dupuis Grebinger is asked to call Sergeant Stacy Pearson with Louisiana State Police at 337-332-8050.

We are scheduled to hear from Crystal's family members this week, and we are planning to air that interview this Saturday morning on KPEL.

This community in Acadiana has come together time and again to support one another and get answers, and I believe it is time we do it again with this case, and with others.

It's time to get answers Acadiana. Let's do what we do best. Let's talk about, share and get answers so that all these lost women and men can come home.
