It seems these days all we hear about are the bad things that happen in our communities. Just scan across your Facebook feed and you will no doubt come across the latest crimes that are happening in your home town.

Now, of course, none of us particularly care to feel unsafe where we live. Statistically speaking, the odds are pretty good that where you live is fairly safe.

However, to help you be aware where the danger zones exist, the folks at RoadSnacks.net have combed through FBI data from the last three years.

And according to statistics, here are the top 10 most dangerous cities in the state of Louisiana:

  1. Amite
  2. Bastrop
  3. Hammond
  4. Alexandria
  5. Opelousas
  6. Monroe
  7. Eunice
  8. Natchitoches
  9. Bogalusa
  10. Denham Springs

How was this compiled? Statistics were analyzed from the FBI’s Uniform Crime Report which summarizes the number of property crimes and violent crimes in each city per year.

Violent crimes are defined as rapes, murders, robberies and aggravated assaults.

However, of note, this report is not an analysis of the effectiveness of local law enforcement. It simply states where crimes occurred most frequently.

By the way, Lafayette ranked as the #16 most dangerous city in the state.
