’16 and Pregnant’ Star Valerie Fairman Dead After Apparent Overdose
More sad news to report as Valerie Fairman, who starred on MTV's "16 And Pregnant" back in 2010, is dead. She was only 23.
The reality star was found unresponsive in a bathroom at a friend's home in Coatesville, Pennsylvania on Wednesday. The friend broke down the door when Fairman did not respond to calls for her to come out.
It is believed she suffered an overdose, but no cause of death has been ruled yet. Toxicology tests will likely take weeks before the results are available.
Fairman leaves behind 7-year-old daughter Nevaeh. Her pregnancy was featured on the MTV reality series, which showcased the struggles of teen pregnancy.
She appeared on an episode during the show's second season, with her storyline focusing around her breakup with the child's father, Matt. It was filmed in 2009 and aired the next year.
Fairman spent the years since struggling with drug addiction and run-ins with the law. In 2015, she was arrested for prostitution. There was a report as recent as last week that she was booked for resisting arrest.
"16 And Pregnant" went on to spawn the popular spin-off, "Teen Mom". From that show, low levels of fame was brought upon to Amber Portwood, Jenelle Evans, Maci Bookout, and Farrah Abraham, among others.
