The 22nd annual LEF Teacher Awards were held last night at the Heymann Center in Lafayette. The evening recognized 16 Lafayette Parish educators whose dedication and commitment have greatly impacted the lives of their students.

The finalists arrived in style via limos and rolled up onto the red carpet amidst much fanfare and even media interviews.

These are the cream of the crop, as a total of 1,085 Lafayette Parish teachers were nominated by peers, students or parents.

A committee then whittled the pool down to the 16 finalists. Recipients are from public, private, parochial and charter schools.

The four big winners from the 2020 LEF Teacher Awards are:

  • Elementary School: Ellen Lejeune - Our Lady of Fatima
  • Middle School: Jason Muller - L.J. Alleman Fine Arts Magnet Academy
  • High School: Karla Landry - Ovey Comeaux High School
  • Inspirational: Brian Watkins - St. Thomas More Catholic High

We send a huge congratulations to all the winners and all of those who were finalists.
