32-year-old Ross Mata and 34-year-old Anthony Mata - both of Katy, Texas - and 30-year-old Corey Mata of Baldwin have all been booked into the Iberia Parish Jail for Second Degree Battery after a New Iberia Police officer's weapon discharged during an arrest around 2:00 a.m. Sunday morning.

Louisiana State Police Trooper Thomas Gossen says the incident happened near the 100 block of Main Street. As an officer was trying to arrest a subject, several subjects began to struggle with the officer. During the struggle, the officer discharged his weapon, striking a subject.

The subject and officer have been both treated and released from the hospital for injuries.
