(KMDL-FM) With a heart heavy with admiration and respect, I bring you the news that one of the most recognizable voices in Acadiana radio will no longer be heard through your speakers. Okay, at least regularly. After several decades in the communications business, I have learned that the word "never" only applies when you request a pay increase.

So I won't say that your ears will never be caressed by the dulcet tones of one of Acadiana's most gifted communicators; I am simply saying that those caresses and audio kisses won't come nearly as frequently as they once did.

Changing Channels - Big Announcement Shakes up Acadiana Radio Scene

To quote another t-shirt shop cliché, "Change is inevitable- except from a vending machine." Humorist Robert C.Gallagher is credited with giving the world that quote, and no, he isn't the guy who used to smash watermelons on stage with a hammer; that's a different guy with a similar name.

Back in the day, the way on-air communicators reached their audience was not only through their daily programs, personal stories, and enthusiastic endorsements, but personalities spent more time in the community, visiting with you, shaking your hand, and listening to your feedback.

Today, the on-air host and you, the audience, are even more connected in a very personal, yet impersonal way. Via Apps, Social Media, Text Messages, and more, there has never been a more connected time in the communications industry, but alas, that need for constant connection and 24-hour a day instant access has certainly taken its toll on those communicators who live to serve and truly love the audiences who have given them their trust.

But as our friend chooses to push the door or perhaps gate is a better word to this chapter of their communications career to a close, they are living up to their personal mantra, "make things better before you leave," and that is exactly what one of your favorite voices is going to offer to you.

Here at 97.3 The Dawg, we know her as a mom, a philanthropist, a community investor, and a friend. We call her Veronica, but you might remember her better under her on-air moniker, The Cash Cow.   Yeah, the Cash Cow is going to spend her Fall Mornings enjoying a much quieter existence, but you. Your mornings, and workday for that matter, will be far from quiet.

Because Veronica, through her shrewd investments and ability to play the cattle market like Hillary Clinton, has left behind for you the chance to win $25,000. You might remember The Cash Cow offered prizes of $10,000 or $5,000, or even $1,000, but as a gift for you, she's offering you the chance at a prize the size of which I can't recall ever being offered in Acadiana.

The $25,000 Cash Grab is powered by one of Veronica's favorite companies, Prime Energy Solutions. They have a lot of grass around their facility, and Veronica says she plans to have breakfast with the gang at PES on many mornings.

Y'all do know that Prime Energy Solutions can install a generator in your home, and they make it affordable. Your power never goes out, your home's value increases, and Prime Energy Solutions monitors the entire system on your behalf. They can spot a problem before it becomes a problem.

Just think of how that financial windfall could change your life. You could get a new vehicle or take the trip of a lifetime or eliminate your debts, or even afford to buy more than a few cows if you miss Veronica that much.

But don't shed a tear for our friend, the Cash Cow; she's going to be fine. We hear she's dating Riley Green; don't believe us? Just hide and watch and see if he doesn't show up in town sometime soon.

Remember, it's better this way. The Cash Cow would have struggled to grab anything with those manicured hooves, so we should leave the $25,000 Cash Grab to you. Keep listening, good luck, and Veronica says, "Moo".
