The Lafayette Police Department is seeking to earn accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation of Law Enforcement. In order for the Department to earn that distinction, your input will be necessary. The opportunity for you to offer input on Lafayette Police and the way the department handles its business will come before a committee representing CALEA on Wednesday.

The committee is seeking to explore community input on these aspects of the department: Policy and Procedures, Administration, Law Enforcement Operations and Support Services. Public commentary will be taken in several different ways during the committee's time in Lafayette on Wednesday.

One way is via telephone call on a non-recorded line. Those phone interviews will be conducted on Wednesday between 2 pm and 4 pm. Those wishing to make comments may dial (337) 291-7372.

You are also invited to make comments during a public hearing scheduled for Wednesday evening. The hearing will begin at 6:30 in the Comstat Room of the LPD facility located at 900 East University Avenue.

Those wishing to make comments via telephone are in person are reminded that there is a ten-minute time limit. So, please plan your comments accordingly to make the best use of your time before the committee.
