Air Force Thunderbirds to Perform in Louisiana This Weekend
The azure skies above southern Louisiana will be dotted with a few clouds this weekend and the screaming sounds of some amazing aircraft too as the iconic United States Air Force Thunderbirds are set to "show the right stuff" in the Bayou State this weekend. The Thunderbirds are a featured performer of the 10th Annual Chennault International Air Show which takes place in Lake Charles this weekend.
The Air Force website page dedicated to the Thunderbirds describes the team this way.
The demonstration is a mix of six aircraft performing formation flying and solo routines. The four-ship Diamond formation showcases the precision and training of U.S. Air Force Pilots, as well as the gracefulness of the F-16.
As someone who has seen these amazing pilots and aircraft in action, I can promise your American pride will be at an all-time high when these "Birds" take flight. Yes, you will get goosebumps.
The USAF Thunderbirds are just one of the featured performers at this weekend's show at Chennault International Airport in Lake Charles. They will also be joined by the AeroShell Aerobatic Team, The United States Army's Golden Knights parachute team, the U.S. Navy's West Coast "Rhino" Demonstration team flying F-18 Super Hornets as well as a host of other thrilling performers.
However, not all the action will take place overhead. There will also be a demonstration by Precision Exotics that features talented drivers behind the wheels of exotic dream cars. And, the Hot Streak Jet Truck will blister the two-mile-long runway at Chennault with an amazing demonstration of horsepower too.
The Chennault International Air Show will feature three performances. The first will be Friday night for a Twilight performance. This show will feature select performers but won't include the Thunderbirds. Gates for the Twilight show will open at 5 pm.
Saturday and Sunday gates will open at 10 am but we must caution you that only select tickets are still available via the Airshow website. We'd encourage you to secure your spot online today, instead of waiting until the weekend to see if you can get in for the performances.
If you do plan to attend, the weekend forecast for the Lake Area is expected to be mostly sunny and hot. So, wear the appropriate clothing for temperatures in the upper 80s, and don't forget your sunscreen, hats, and sunglasses.
