Amtrak Expanding Louisiana, Gulf Coast Service for Mardi Gras
(KMDL-FM) What is the biggest concern that many of us have during Mardi Gras celebrations? Okay, after we've found a place to use the restroom, what's our biggest concern? Right, it's getting from point A to point B safely while still maintaining our Mardi Gras buzz. That's why this year, thousands of Mardi Gras revelers in Louisiana and along the Gulf Coast will leave the driving to Amtrak and the railroad line's newly opened Mardi Gras rail service.

Both New Orleans and Mobile lay claim to the raucous celebration of Fat Tuesday, so it's only fitting that revelers have a way to get from one town to the other without interrupting their buzz. The line has become so popular among train and Mardi Gras enthusiasts that they've created their own line of merchandise. Among the items offered are can coolers, t-shirts, caps, and the ever-popular fanny pack. They call it a belt bag, but we know what it really is.
