In the next edition of American Crime Story, Annette Bening will be playing ex-Louisiana Governor Kathleen Blanco as the show takes on Hurricane Katrina, and the aftermath.

It was rumored that Julia Roberts would be taking on the role of Blanco when it was first announced that the story was heading to New Orleans. Apparently that wasn't the case, as Warren Beatty's wife, Annette Bening , will assume the role.

In Katrina: American Crime Story, the second season after The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story, Blanco's role will seemingly be prominent, as she directed the response, evacuation, and rebuilding efforts after Katrina ravished the state in August of 2005.

Bening, a veteran actress, has been nominated for an Oscar four times for her roles in The Kids Are All Right, Being Julia, American Beauty, and The Grifters. Katrina: American Crime Story is set to hit your television screens in 2018.
