Aretha Franklin To Receive Special Pulitzer Prize
The Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin, is making history, even after her death in 2018. On Monday it was revealed that the Pulitzer Jury will award Ms Franklin a posthumous Pulitzer Prize Special Citation. She is the first woman to receive the honor since 1930, which is the year it was started.
Special Citations are not given every year, and only when the committee deems them necessary. Past winners include Bob Dylan, Hank Williams Sr, and Thelonious Monk.
Check out the official announcement below. Congrats to Ms Aretha Franklin! #muchrespect
