This was the year that Major League Baseball was supposed to get even with the Houston Astros. You might recall the Astros were busted for not complying with the basic rules of the game. Okay, they cheated. They stole signs from opposing pitchers using a rather elaborate scheme and all of baseball was ready to get even.

Then came COVID-19 and questions about whether Major League Baseball would even have a season. Well, the league has, kind of, and we are now into the playoff phase of however you want to describe the 2020 year in baseball.

Yesterday, the Astros defeated the Minnesota Twins by a score of 4 to1 to take game one of the best of three series between the two teams. The win by Houston stretched the Twins postseason loss record to 17 straight. The Twins could make it 18 losses in a row if they fall to the Astros in today's elimination game at Target Field.

The game yesterday was played in front of about 200 staff members as tickets for the game were not sold over concerns about COVID-19.

In other action from the Major League Baseball Wildcard Round of the Playoffs,The White Sox defeated Oakland 4 to 1. Toronto fell to Tampa Bay by a score of 3 to 1. The Yankees downed Cleveland 12 to 3.

Games scheduled for today include the afore mention contest between Houston and Minnesota, first pitch in that game comes shortly after Noon. About an hour before that game the Atlanta Braves will host Cincinnati. Other Wildcard action on the schedule this afternoon includes the Marlins at the Cubs, the White Sox at Oakland, Toronto at Tampa Bay, and St. Louis at San Diego.

Tonight's games will pit the Yankees against Cleveland and Milwaukee will face the Los Angeles Dodgers. The Wildcard Round of the playoffs should conclude this weekend as all of the series are a best of three. The Divisional Round of the MLB playoffs is set to begin on Monday.
