The 147th Kentucky Derby takes place on Saturday. Twenty horses will compete in the "Run for the Roses.

Two of them will be mounted by jockeys with Acadiana ties.

Kendrick Carmouche, the son of Arnaudville native and former Evangeline Downs and Delta Downs mainstay Sylvester Carmouche, Jr., will ride Bourbonic. Lafayette native Corey Lanerie will mount Sainthood.

But do these Acadiana jockeys have a chance at winning the Kentucky Derby? Who are the experts expecting to perform the best? Evangeline Downs track announcer Rob Tuel handicaps the race for Ian and Bernie. He also talks about his journey to Opelousas from Nebraska, his experience since moving to the area a week ago, and he shows off his race-calling skills ahead of this weekend's races.

Evangeline Downs will be showing the Kentucky Derby in addition to hosting its own races Saturday night. Post time for Saturday's local races is 5:50 p.m.
