In light of last night's shooting, it is asked that you try to avoid the around The Grand Theater including that stretch of Johnston Street as well as Doucet Road.

Here are some alternate routes you can take if you need to get into the downtown area:

• Congress Street (basically parallels Johnston Street into the downtown area)
• Kaliste Saloom to Pinhook, Pinhook to the Oil Center, and University to downtown

For those who live in the surrounding area, you are probably familiar with the back roads. These will run through neighborhoods so please keep in mind the speed limits and that children are out of school. Stay cautious during the morning commute.
