Black Friday Deals You May Want to Quit Pie For — Target, Macy’s, Best Buy & More
As we all know, Black Friday has turned into cut-your-Thanksgiving-dinner-short Thursday. Generally, we wouldn’t discourage you from spending time with your family or eating dessert on a holiday, but we did find some Black Friday deals that may make you want to step away from that piece of pie. Just keep in mind that many retailers are starting their discounts early or online, so if there’s something you’ve got your eye on but you don’t want to join the crowds, do some checking around.

Our favorite Black Friday deal this year has to be at Old Navy. Of course, clothing and accessories at Old Navy aren’t usually very expensive, so it’s not the 50 percent off everything in the store deal (starting at 4 p.m. on Thursday) that has us excited. We think you should head over there because they’re giving away $1,000,000. The key is that you have to be one of the first 100 in line to get a game card with your chance to win a million dollars. And since they're opening at 4 and most other places don't open until 5 or 6, you have time to line up there first. They aren’t kidding. That would be the best Black Friday ever.
Black Friday is really Best Buy’s time to shine. They tend to know what the hot tech products will be for the season and they pull out all the stops. You usually have to be in line early to get tickets for the more popular items, but even if those run out there are plenty of other deals inside. This year, they’ve got a 55-inch Samsung Ultra High Definition 4K TV for $899.99 (while supplies last). If that’s a bit much for you, you can pick up a 50-inch Panasonic HDTV for just $199.99. Galaxy 5s are going to be just a dollar with a two-year activation and you’ll be able to save $100 on any iPad Air. You can also pick up a GoPro Hero3+ Silver Edition for just $249.99 and Xbox and PS4 games for just $19.99. And, the Microsoft Surface 2 32GB Magnesium will be on sale for $299.99. For stocking stuffers, keep your eyes open for $9.99 DVDs, even sets and series. The flier is almost 50 pages long. There are tons of deals.
It appears that Kmart is banking on you not wanting to see your family on Thanksgiving, or at least they hope you’ll plan for a late dinner. They start their deals on Thursday at 6 a.m. with doorbusters like a 7-inch Samsung Galaxy tablet for $149.99, $4.99 on appliances like electric can openers, toasters, irons and mixers, and select board games for just $8.99. If you’re having an early dinner, head over at 7 p.m. for deals like a 50-inch RCA LED HDTV for $399.99, a Craftsman 220-piece tool set for just $89.99 and 40 percent off Lego sets. On Friday, work off those leftovers from 6 a.m. until noon while you shop for diamond dial watches for $9.99, Craftsman tools at a 50 percent discount, a $399.99 50-inch Sanyo HDTV and Hot Wheels, Barbies and Disney Princess dolls for just $2.99. There are tons of deals on toys, clothes and stuff for your home at Kmart all weekend long, plus bonuses for members and layaway discounts.
It’s possible Walmart makes Black Friday confusing so you’ll feel lost and just buy more, but they still have some good deals going. Their first event starts on Thursday at 6 p.m. They too have a 50-inch LED HDTV for a discount at $218. You’ll save about $180. You can also get the Xbox One Halo: Master Chief Collection Bundle, including access to the Halo: Guardians beta, 4 classic Halo games and a $30 Walmart gift card for only $329. There’s also a PS4 system for $399 and a $50 Walmart gift card. At 8 p.m. on Thursday, new deals kick in like a 60-inch LED HDTV for $498 and a $45 Sony blu-ray disc player. Also, $698 will get you a 50-inch Vizio Ultra HD 4K TV, while supplies last. On Friday, another set of deals will start up at 6 a.m., for the early birds. Look for 30 percent off select merchandise, big discounts on tires and $100 and $200 gift cards in exchange for upgrading your old smart phone. Make sure you check for deals online if you don’t want to mess with the throngs of shoppers.
Target will also have its fair share of Black Friday deals and doorbusters. They’re kicking off with a 40-inch LED HDTV for $119 and iPad minis and iPad Airs for $399 with a $100 Target gift card included. The good news is that these are preview deals you can shop for in store and online starting Wednesday. On Thursday at 6 p.m., you can pick up a 60-inch Samsung SMART LET HDTV for $797.99 and grab an RCA 8-inch tablet for $69.99, or a Google Chromecast for only $24.99. They’ll also have the GoPro Hero3+ Silver Edition for just $249.99 and the Xbox 360 Kinect Bundle for $179. There are also major discounts on toys and movies, like $19 for a Razor scooter and $129 for 6 volt Ride-Ons. If there’s anything you need at Target in the next few days, check the flier and don’t pay too much.
And, speaking of Toys, if you’re like Santa Claus and there are lots of little kids on your list, you may want to venture to a Toys “R” Us store near you. You can even start there at 5 p.m., before you head to Walmart and Target for their deals at 6. T'R'U will have the Polaroid 7-inch dual core tablet for half-off at $39.99. They’ve got jumbo plush Olaf from ‘Frozen’ dolls for only $19.99 and buy-one-get-one-70 percent off on Skylanders Trap Teams figures and traps. The LeapFrog LeapsterGS Explorer will be marked down to $24.99 and LeapPad and Explorer software will be just $15. Board games will be anywhere from $3 to $20, which is a really good deal on some family playtime. Many Lego sets will be marked down by 50 percent. That means you’ll find sets under $50. New deals will start on Friday at 7 a.m., so check out what’s listed in case there’s something specific you’re after.
Kohl’s is known for offering sales and discounts throughout the year, so of course they plan to get in on the Black Friday action. The first tip you need to know is that Kohl’s will be giving away $15 in Kohl’s cash for every $50 you spend now through the end of November. This is money you can come back and use for more discounts during the first week of December. Check your paper and your mailbox, because you could also find coupons for an extra 15 percent off and a $10 gift from Kohl’s just for shopping this weekend. As for the deals, Kohl’s has a 49-inch LED TV from LG for $399.99, marked down from $599.99. They’ll also have Xbox One 3P marked down to $329.99. There will even be an HP Deskjet all-in-one printer for just $29.99, if you can get there before they’re gone.
Macy’s already rules Thanksgiving with that little parade they do in Manhattan, but they are also going after a piece of the Black Friday pie. First, they’ll be holding a “Black Friday Give-Away with a Million Dollars in Prizes” starting at 6 p.m. on Thursday.
