BATON ROUGE, La. (KMDL-FM) - A simple response on social media has confirmed that Blue Bayou Waterpark in Baton Rouge will indeed be re-opening in 2026.

The water park has had a rough go the last few years, with the once-popular venue not opening at all in 2025. Additionally, the adjacent theme park, Dixie Landin', closed permanently this past June after only opening for eight days in 2025.

The New Owners: Leisure Sports and the Soak'n Fun Rebrand

Fans of the long-time water park have been hopeful as earlier this year it was announced that Leisure Sports had acquired Blue Bayou Waterpark. At the time, the Louisiana-based company said it would re-open the waterpark in Summer 2026 under the Soak'n Fun brand.

We're not sure if the name change is happening, given recent activity on the Blue Bayou Waterpark Facebook page. A new profile picture displays revamped logo of the same name.

Will Blue Bayou Reopen as Soak'n Fun?

But the affirmation that the waterpark (with whatever name it operates under) will be opening in the Summer of 2026 came in a simple reply on its Facebook page. A commenter asked, "will Blue Bayou Waterpark be open next summer?" and the page admins responded with a simple, "yes we will."

The Future of Summer Fun in Baton Rouge

Will some renovations take place? When will it open? Will the name stay the same?

There are more questions than answers, but the good news is that it appears to be making a return, and that's a good thing for fans of the once-thriving waterpark. Hopefully, changes are made to make it a fun summer hotspot again.
