ORIGINAL STORY:

Lafayette Fire Department investigator Alton Trahan says, via press release, that a body was found after firefighters put out a fire in a home on the southwest Evangeline Thruway.

At this time, Trahan says they are working to determine what caused the person's death.

They were called out to the scene of this fire in the 400 block of the Thruway before 2 o'clock Saturday morning.

Firefighters had to battle the flames seen coming from the front of the home. It took about an hour to put out this fire, and Trahan says the home was heavily damaged by the blaze.

Officials say that they will release more information about this situation at a later time.
