Books Along The Teche Literary Festival Needs Volunteers
Southern authors are the backbone of the literary world, and we are lucky enough to have many famous writers who call south Louisiana their home. And Acadiana celebrates some of our finest word-smiths at the 5th annual Books Along the Teche Literary Festival:Celebrating New Iberia, Dave Robicheaux’s Hometown, and Great Southern Writers. This year the festival will be held on April 3-5 at various locations around New Iberia, and Osha Gray Davidson will be honored as a 2020 'Great Southern Writer'.
According to the official press release, visitors can 'Experience various venues to celebrate literature and its impact on the area’s culture with storytelling, poetry, workshops, readers theater, music, bourée lessons and a tournament, bus and boat tours, a 5K run, plus food, food, food.'
Most of the festivities will be held in and around the New Iberia historic district, but several are also scattered around the parish. Volunteers are currently being sought to help with 'manning information stations, escorting authors or working at one of their many interesting events', which includes a symposium honoring Osha Gray Davidson at the Sliman Theater on April 4th at 3:00 pm.
