Bourque’s Specialties, a Cajun Meat Market, to Move Into Former Sophi P’s Location
Many lovers of cupcakes were saddened recently by the closing of Sophi P Cupcakes on Johnston Street.
This delightful sweet treat shop had been in business for nine years, but the owners wanted to move on to other things.
The store won't be staying vacant long, however. According to Developing Lafayette, a Port Barre-based Cajun meat market and grocery, Bourque's Supermarket will be taking over the location.
The new market will actually be called "Bourque's Specialties" and will offer many of your specialty meats fare like boudin and cracklins, their world famous jalapeno, sausage, and cheese bread, smoked sausages, seasoning blends and more.
The original Bourque's Supermarket on Saizan Street in Port Barre has been in business since 1948. Chad and Shannon Bourque are third generation owners of the business.
The tentative opening date for Bourque's Specialties in Lafayette is sometime in the summer of 2019.
