Cajuns Can’t Overcome Miscues, Lose Series To UTA
The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns baseball team was looking to put yesterday's game behind them and try to get a win to even the series against the UTA Mavericks. The Cajuns would be unable to do so as they took advantage of the Cajuns miscues to take the series. The Cajuns with the loss move to 20-22 overall and 8-9 in conference play.
The game seemed to be a bit of a back and forth game at least early on. The Mavericks would take the lead in the bottom of the first on a sacrifice fly to make it 1-0. The Cajuns took the lead in the top of the 2nd when Orynn Veillon hit an RBI single that scored 2 to make it 2-1. The Cajuns seemed to have the momentum but the Mavericks tied it back up with a solo home run in the bottom of the 2nd.
The Cajuns took the lead right back in the top of the 4th when they scored on an error but that was the last time the Cajuns would have the lead. The Cajuns and Mavericks would go scoreless until the Mavericks scored 2 on wild pitches in the bottom of the 7th to take a 4-3 lead. The Mavericks added 3 more to their lead in the bottom of the 8th on an RBI single, an error and a fielder's choice to take the series victory.
The Cajuns had too many miscues and allowed free bases which allowed the Mavericks to take full advantage. The Cajuns only had 1 error but they had 2 wild pitches that allowed 2 runs to score. The Cajuns will try to salvage the series tomorrow afternoon when they finish the series with the Mavericks.
