5 Children Injured in Louisiana Drive-By Shooting

BATON ROUGE, La. - A violent drive-by shooting that left five children hospitalized is still under investigation, and now police are asking the public to help identify a vehicle they believe was used in the attack.

The Baton Rouge Police Department have released photos of the car in hopes that someone recognizes it and comes forward with information that could help solve the case.

Five Children Were Shot Outside Apartment Complex

The shooting happened on June 17 at the Pelican Bay Apartments in Baton Rouge.

According to investigators, a vehicle pulled into the complex before at least two suspects got out and opened fire on a group of children gathered outside. The suspects then fled the scene before officers arrived.

According to WAFB, the victims range in age from 11 to 17 years old. All five were taken to area hospitals for treatment, and while one child suffered multiple gunshot wounds, authorities say all of the victims are thankfully expected to survive.

Police Release Photos Of Suspect Vehicle

As the investigation continues, the Baton Rouge Police Department has released images of the vehicle believed to have been involved in the shooting.

Detectives say the car did not have a license plate at the time of the shooting, making it even more difficult to identify. Police also believe the suspects were wearing masks and hooded sweatshirts.

Authorities are hoping someone recognizes the vehicle or knows who may have been driving it that day.

Investigators Believe Juveniles Were Involved

Police believe the people responsible for the shooting may also be juveniles.

Investigators say the violence appears to have stemmed from a confrontation that occurred just minutes before the shooting, including a fistfight involving two individuals. While a motive has not been officially confirmed, detectives say they continue to follow leads.
