A Church Point woman was arrested yesterday after a shooting earlier in the day.

Church Point Police Chief Dale Thibodeaux says that 44-year-old Denise Lyons has been charged with attempted second-degree murder.

Thibodeaux says the shooting happened at approximately 5:15 am at 323 S. David Street. A man was found shot in the shoulder with a shotgun.

According to Chief Thibodeaux, Lyons, who lives two blocks away from the victim, went to the home and shot the man as a result of an altercation the night before. That altercation was under investigation by police.

Thibodeaux says the victim went to the hospital in stable condition.

Lyons was booked into the Acadia Parish Jail.
