Rescue crews with the United States Coast Guard were deployed Wednesday evening to assist two mariners who reported that their vessel had become disabled. Coast Guard crews were dispatched to the scene, about 14 miles off the Cameron Parish coast on Wednesday evening.

The response boat sent to aid the disabled craft attempted to load fuel into the disabled bass boat but were unsuccessful in their attempts. Threatening weather conditions in the area also made the rescue and recovery of the vessel difficult at the time.

The two individuals on board the stricken vessel were removed to the safety of the response boat when the disabled boat began to take on water. The two mariners were then transferred to the Cameron Ferry where they were returned to shore. There were no injuries reported in this incident.

The Coast Guard also issued safety marine information broadcasts alerting mariners to the sunken vessel.
