Another classic country artist has left us as Grand Ole Opry member Jack Greene died yesterday, succumbing from complications of Alzheimer's disease at the age of 83.

Of course we remember Greene from his signature tunes "There Goes My Everything" and "Statue of a Fool". Affectionately nicknamed the "Jolly Green Giant" for his lofty stature, Greene was one of the biggest stars of the late sixties and early seventies.

At the very first CMA Awards back in 1967, Jack Greene was one of the night's big winners. That year he won Male Vocalist of the Year, Single of the Year for "There Goes My Everything" and Album of the Year for the LP of the same name.

He was a member of the Grand Ole Opry since 1967 and was a regular performer up until his retirement in 2011.

R.I.P. Jack Greene, another legend gone.
