Crowley Man Arrested in Connection with Hit-and-Run That Injured Child
A Crowley man has been arrested in connection with the hit and run accident in Acadia Parish that left a 10-year-old boy in critical condition.
35-year-old Justin Duhon was booked with felony hit and run, according to Crowley Police Chief Jimmy Broussard.
The incident happened Sunday afternoon on East Spruce Street when the child was hit by a car while riding the bicycle he had just received for Christmas.
Statements taken from witnesses indicated that a silver "dually" pickup truck with a loud engine was around the area at the time of the accident. The truck was then identified as the alleged suspect vehicle.
Later in the evening, State Police got a call from a Crowley resident who was on the phone with a woman who she said was in the alleged truck and was present when the hit and run took place. She named Duhon as a suspect and her story matched other witness reports.
Crowley Police obtained a warrant for Duhon's arrest and he was apprehended in Orleans Parish where he is awaiting extradition back to Acadia Parish.
The child injured is listed in critical but stable condition in a Baton Rouge hospital.
