Crowley Mayor Tests Positive for COVID-19

COVID-19 is an equal opportunity infector. Maybe that's why people from all walks of life should take mitigation techniques seriously as we continue to work our way through the current pandemic. The most recent notable positive case of the disease has been confirmed by Crowley Mayor Tim Monceaux.

Mayor Monceaux offered details on his diagnosis via a press release yesterday. In the press release, the Mayor explained how he became infected.

After being in close contact with someone who tested positive for the coronavirus, I decided to quarantine myself at home and was tested. The results came back today, and I tested positive for COVID-19.

Mayor Monceaux also outlined his plans for how he will conduct city business from his home office.

I will maintain my isolation and continue to conduct city business while recuperating from home. I want to reassure the citizens of Crowley that the city remains in capable hands, and we are well-managed and equipped to deal with any problems or emergencies that arise. In the event there is a need for the mayor pro-tem, Alderman-at-Large Steven Premeaux, to stand as my representative at a meeting or city function I am unable to attend, he is ready to assume the responsibility.

Mayor Monceaux went on to remind citizens for Crowley that City Hall is currently closed to the public and will remain closed for the foreseeable future. Should you have business dealing with the city the telephones are being answered plus fax and email service is still being offered.

The city has also placed a collection mailbox near the front doors of Crowley City Hall. This is checked frequently throughout the day and is in place for those citizens who want to deliver correspondence in person.

Mayor Monceaux also used the press release to remind residents of Crowley and the surrounding area to take COVID-19 seriously and to practice safe mitigation techniques to protect their own health as well as the health of others.

I urge everyone to take the necessary precautions to assure the safety and well-being of our community. Please wear a mask when out in public and remember to social distance and stay six feet apart from those you meet.
