Cruise Ships Out of Port of Galveston Changing Plans
The Port of Galveston is a big cruise ship base with Carnival and Royal Carribean currently disembarking out of that location. However, due to Harvey, cruises have had to make changes as the port is now closed.
Carnival Cruise Lines has three ships that will now perform a stop in New Orleans over the next two days to allow guests to disembark if they wish to make independent arrangements to return home or another location.
Or guests will have the option to sail back to Galveston on the same ship when they depart New Orleans Tuesday or Wednesday. It is assumed that the Port of Galveston will re-open later this week.
Because of this uncertainty, the August 26th sailings of Carnival Valor and Carnvial Freedom along with the August 27th departure of Carnival Breeze were cancelled. Full refunds were given.
Royal Carribean's Liberty of the Seas, which was to arrive in Galveston on Sunday, was diverted to Miami. According to the cruise line, they were doing all they could to help guests adjust their travel arrangements.
The 27th sailing of the Liberty was cancelled and all guests were fully refunded.
