Daylight Saving Time 2025: When Will Louisiana Fall Back?
(KMDL-FM) Many school systems from Lafayette to Crowley to Lake Charles to Baton Rouge, and a lot of the others in between, will be sending kids back to class later this week or at the beginning of next week. The New Orleans Saints, LSU Tigers, and Ragin' Cajuns of UL have begun fall football practice. Starbucks has revealed when Pumpkin Spice Lattes will be available.
That's how we'd tell you it's about to be fall without telling you it's about to be fall. In Louisiana, fall is nothing but a blip on the calendar. Our "fall" in Louisiana is usually about two weeks long. We will have some cool, crisp mornings and a few warm afternoons, but for the most part, we're just not as hot and not as humid in September as we are in July.

That lack of physical effect probably has a lot to do with why the concept of Spring Forward and Fall Back has lost favor with a lot of folks in Louisiana. Many of us see the "clock thing" as a waste of time. It's only useful as a reminder to lube our garage doors and change the batteries in our smoke detectors.
Aren't Louisiana and Other States Ending Daylight Saving Time?
The adjustment of the "business day clock" with the "daylight clock" doesn't seem to make much sense, which is why most of us want the biannual time change to become a part of history. So far, Louisiana and 47 other states, including Washington, DC, would opt out of Daylight Saving Time if the federal government opted out. You can see support for getting rid of the time change is massive.

Naturally, because so many of us don't want this any longer, we are going to keep it around for a little while longer. The day that you need to mark in your calendar or input in your electronic device is November 2, 2025. That would be a Sunday morning, and you're supposed to move the clocks back one hour at 2 am.
When Will the Clocks Spring Forward in 2026?
Should the federal government keep us on this path of time wizard witchcraft, we will then set the clocks forward again on March 8, 2026. Now, it is possible that Daylight Saving Time could come to an end before that date arrives. It all hinges on the Federal Government.
Many states, such as Louisiana, have already approved legislation that says when the Federal Government ends Daylight Saving Time, so will they.
