It's happens every week in Acadiana and it will happen to you eventually if it hasn't happened already. Your kid will be assigned a science project. However, the child won't inform you on the day it was assigned.  This announcement to you the parent usually comes on the ride to school the day the project is due.

Just in case you are given a day or so notice here is a really neat and safe science experiment that any kid, even you can do.

It's called a homo polar motor. Don't let the name fool you it's legal in all 50 states. All you will need is some wire, a small magnet and a double A battery. The rest is bending and shaping and science. Give it a try it will make your kids think you are really smart and give you at least one science project that you know will earn an A.
