Double Tropical Trouble Possible
There are two tropical weather systems the National Hurricane Center is monitoring this morning. Both of them are tropical waves and both of them have the potential to become a tropical cyclone.
Both of the systems are well out to sea. The closest system is about 800 miles east of the Windward Islands. The other system is even further to the east, closer to the African continent.
The Hurricane Center has scheduled an Air Force Reserve Hurricane Hunter flight into the first system later today. That system is the one that has the greatest possibility of becoming a tropical cyclone over the next five days.
Forecasters believe the system closest to the islands will continue a westward motion over the next five days. The other system should it survive will most likely take a turn to the northwest over the same time period.
As of now, neither of these systems pose an immediate threat to any land mass.
