The Daily Advertiser will be hosting their 3rd annual Acadiana Sports Awards banquet on Tuesday, May 15 at the Cajundome Convention Center and the guest speaker has changed.

Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott was originally scheduled to be the headliner, but the event had to be rescheduled and a prior commitment has made it impossible for him to attend.

His replacement is not too shabby. Drew Brees will be back for a second time to be the special guest speaker.

"I'm delighted to be coming back to Acadiana to recognize the accomplishments of high school athletes - both on and off the field," Brees said.

The Acadiana Sports Awards is a red-carpet, ESPY-like event that will recognize more than 250 high school athletes for achievements on and off the field.

Previous guest speakers were Brees in 2016 and Peyton Manning in 2017.

The public is invited to attend this event and tickets are on sale now at sportsawards.theadvertiser.com. And to view a full list of invited athletes for the fall and winter seasons, visit sportsawards.theadvertiser.com#nominees.
