Duson Mother Arrested For Pretending Her Three Kids Went Missing
A Duson woman was arrested on Saturday evening after police say she filed a false report claiming that her three kids went missing.
40-year-old Denise Ray called police at 7:43 pm and reported that the father of her three children had broke into her apartment at Highland Commons.
When police arrived, Ray told officers that her children were taken from her apartment while she was sleeping. Officers did notice that the lock on the apartment door had been broken.
According to Duson Police Chief Kip Judice, numerous attempts to reach the father were unsuccessful.
During the investigation, it was discovered that Ray sent the father a text message at 1:30 pm, asking him to pick the children up from her apartment.
Witnesses confirmed that the children were picked up from the apartment at 2:30 pm. They also said Ray's brother broke the lock on the door on Friday.
All three children were later found safe in the care of their father.
Police say that Ray made up the story in an attempt to discredit the father so he would lose custody of their children.
Ray was booked into the Acadia Parish Jail and charged with criminal mischief by filing a false police report.
All three children remain in the custody of their father.
