Is former Louisiana Governor Edwin Edwards eyeing a run at Congress?

That's what some folks are insinuating but the Marksville native is not making any plans just yet. According to reports, the 86-year-old is going to wait a while before making any decisions.

As you probably recall, Edwards spent 10 years in prison for bribery, racketeering, and extortion. He was released in 2011.

Edwards' convictions prohibit him from running for state office without a pardon, however he can run for federal office without a pardon.

The talks of a possible Congressional run for Edwards came after the conservative website The Hayride reported that he was interested in the 6th Congressional seat. That seat will be vacated next year when Rep. Bill Cassidy, R-Baton Rouge, steps down to challenge Mary Landrieu for her Senate seat.
