(KMDL- FM) The city of Lafayette. The gateway to Acadiana and Louisiana’s Cajun Culture. It’s a unique town with a lot to offer. But like every town and every human, there is always room to improve. Sometimes, to improve, you have to make changes, and change makes us uncomfortable as humans.
What Changes Need to Be Made in Lafayette and Acadiana?
I think it’s safe to say that we all have more than a few ideas about how "where we live" and "our community in general" could be improved. But to make some of those changes, there will be a little pain and a lot of soul-searching involved.
A lot of times, the reason changes aren’t made is that a small group of people creates a big stink, and the greater good is put on hold because of the wishes of the few. And the louder that vocal minority seems to get, the harder it is to make changes.
What About Tradition? Doesn't That Mean Anything Anymore?
Other times, change is slowed down by "tradition". Y'all know what tradition is, right? That's peer pressure from dead people. I am all for remembering where you came from, but we still built bridges over bayous where there used to be ferry barges. The barges worked, but bridges work better, and that's the mindset you have to accept when it comes to making changes to "traditional" things.

But since we know change is inevitable and that to grow, you have to evolve, we asked you for some “Unpopular Opinions” that might actually lead to improvements in our community.
Some of the suggestions were great. Some were vindictive and sounded personally motivated, but some of them simply boiled down to observations about living in Lafayette and Acadiana.
