Entire City of Rayne, Louisiana to Be Without Electricity Sunday

Lafayette, La (KMDL) - Residents and businesses in Rayne, Louisiana will need to prepare and make the necessary precautions needed as officials say the entire city will be without electricity this coming Sunday, April 13, 2025.

Why Is The City Of Rayne Without Electricity?

KLFY is reporting that Rayne City officials have urged residents and local businesses to prepare for a planned city-wide power outage this Sunday, April 13, 2025 from 6am until 6pm.

Officials say the planned power outage is scheduled for a full 12 hours, but may possibly be finished sooner than that.

From the City of Rayne press release -

"We understand that this may cause inconvenience, and we encourage residents with medical or other essential electrical needs to make the necessary arrangements in advance.

Why Is There No Electricity In Rayne?

In the press release, the reason for the planned power outage is so that crews can install a new breaker system to replace outdated equipment at the South Frog Substation.
