Everything You Need to Know About Bossier City’s New Land-Based Casino

A new brick-and-mortar casino is set to enter the Shreveport-Bossier market in the first quarter of 2025. The Live! Casino & Hotel Louisiana will be located on the Red River - replacing the former Diamond Jacks Casino & Hotel Bossier City - and will boast over 47,000 square feet of dedicated gambling space. 

This $270 million complex will also feature 550 hotel rooms, a fitness center, a resort pool, and 30,000 square feet of dining space. In terms of gambling options, gamers will have access to over 1,000 slot machines, over 40 table games (including poker tables), and a sportsbook area. 

This is a relatively high level of gambling options compared to some of the other gaming facilities in Louisiana. The company behind this project is obviously aware of the competition, which includes both physical and digital casino options. 

As established by casino expert Vlad Grindu, premium digital casinos come with over 1,000 slot games. This includes the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Hollywood, Live! Casino & Hotel Maryland, and Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Tampa. The group reportedly has a revenue of $23 million. 

Cordish Companies have opened and bought over resorts right across the US, but this new Live! casino will be the first establishment they’ve opened in the state of Louisiana. 

They completed the successful acquisition of the Diamond Jacks Casino & Hotel Bossier City in October of 2023. Diamond Jacks had been a part of Bossier’s casino scene since 1994 and was originally called the Isle of Capri. 

To ensure the successful launch of the new casino, Cordish Companies have been assembling a team of gambling experts and appointing them to senior positions. Bryan Prettyman, who has over 36 years worth of experience in the casino industry, was recently appointed as the senior vice president of property operations. 

Over the last four decades, Prettyman has worked in resorts in New Jersey, California, Oklahoma, Illinois, and Minnesota. He will use his experience to implement an operational strategy that will ensure Live! Casino rivals other top resorts found throughout the country, including those located in Las Vegas. 

Joshua Robinson was also recently appointed as the casino’s VP of marketing. Like Prettyman, Robinson has a wide range of experience in his field and has worked at some of the best resorts in the state. This includes the Margaritaville Resort Casino. 

Robinson will now get to work on formulating and implementing creative strategies, loyalty programs, adverts, sponsorships, and social media campaigns for the new casino. He will work alongside Jamie Williams, who has been appointed as director of sales. 

Elsewhere in recent appointments, Chef John Sulley, who was a James Beard Award nominee, has been made the head chef of the onsite Sports and Social bar and restaurant. He will devise a menu for the restaurant and oversee its successful implementation. 

There will be a Southeast Asian-inspired restaurant onsite called Luk Fu, which is a chain that has already proven to be a hit at the Maryland Live! Casino and part of the reason why the venue receives 18 million visitors per year. 

The Prime Rib Steakhouse has also been announced for the resort, however, no details have been revealed regarding its head chef. All that is known is that it will be one of the most luxurious dining spots in the resort. 

For those who are just looking for a nice place to drink, there will also be a PBR Cowboy Bar onsite. 

In terms of job creation, the redevelopment work has created over 750 construction jobs. The Cordish Gaming Group has announced that there will be space for 750 permanent hospitality and gaming jobs. The annual payroll is set to exceed $30 million. 

It is unclear at this point whether the new casino will accept other forms of payment method besides USD. Many online casinos now permit crypto gambling in response to the rise of crypto ownership throughout the US. Some land-based casinos have started offering this payment method to compete.
