E-bikes give you all the fun and exercise of a regular bike, but they offer an "assist" from an electric motor when you need it. This might be just what you need to climb the monstrous hills of South Louisiana. Okay, there is that one hill in Bendel Gardens, but if we're being honest, most of us would use an e-bike to do all the pedaling, even on flat ground.
Does Louisiana Have Trails Set Aside for E-Bike Use?
But actually, Louisiana is a great place for those who want to explore on an e-bike. Our forests have some really incredible trails, a ride along the levees is bound to offer visuals you won't see anywhere else, and yes, many of our urbanized areas have bike paths and bike trails that work well for e-bike users.

What Are The Different Kinds of E-Bikes?
E-bikes are basically sold in three classes: Class 1 = pedal assist up to 20 mph. Class 2 = throttle allowed up to 20 mph. Class 3 = pedal assist up to 28 mph. No registration, insurance, or driver’s license required. Class 3 riders must wear helmets and must be at least 12 years old.
Some municipalities or parks might place restrictions on riding certain bikes in certain sections of the park; you'll need to verify where you can and can't ride before you hit the trail.
