In a quiet neighborhood in Lafayette, Louisiana sits a recently updated and renovated multi-bedroom home. The home's owner purchased the property during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic and the boom in the housing market that medical malady seemed to spur across the state and the nation. Unfortunately, the property which a lot of the neighbors assumed would be sold in a matter of days is still sitting on the market.

Such is the case for many homeowners in Louisiana. The "can't find houses fast enough to sell" conditions of the COVID pandemic have come and gone and Louisiana's real estate market, like the real estate market across the nation, has returned to what those in the business would call "normal".

But is there really a "normal" in real estate? I am sure if you spoke to the thousands of men and women who earn a license and study hard to be able to legally buy and sell properties across the state would tell you that the job is a series of peaks and valleys. Sometimes, you're riding a peak of selling a lot of properties. Other times, you can't find a buyer and a seller to put together.

The Time To Buy a Home in Louisiana is Now

As we are moving into the warmer months, now is the time to seriously begin considering selling your home. The market always "heats up" during the summer months. The market isn't nearly as active during the winter so if you want to strike while the iron is hot, then it's time to start striking.

You might want to consider viewing the upcoming Parade of Homes in the Lafayette Area. That's a showcase of new construction in the area and it's a great way to get innovative ideas for your own home if you're in the process of building one.

What Parishes In Louisiana Are Homes Selling the Fastest?

The data according to Stacker.com suggests that in Louisiana a typical home spends 81 days on the market. That translates to almost three months but in February homes across Louisiana were moving at a clip of about every 41 days. Naturally, homes in some parishes sold a little, okay a lot faster than others.

If you want to sell your home quickly you need to be in one of three Louisiana cities. You need to be in Baton Rouge, Shreveport, or Lafayette. Of all the parishes in Louisiana homes in Lafayette are selling the fastest. The average number of days a home stays on the market is 61 and the median sale price is $248,000.
