There is a proper way to dispose of an American flag, and this Wednesday, the Lafayette fire department will have a retirement ceremony.

Anyone who owns a tattered or unserviceable flag can bring their flag to the Louis F. Babin Institute of Fire Training Wednesday afternoon.

At the ceremony, members of the Lafayette Fire Department Honor Guard will be disposing of the flags through a respectful ceremony that honors the flag code..

If you cant make the ceremony Wednesday, it's no problem. You can drop your flag off at any Lafayette fire station today or tomorrow.

The ceremony will be at the training facility at 300 North Dugas Road in Lafayette at 3 o'clock this Wednesday afternoon.

If you need more information, or if you have questions, you can call Marline Vidrine at 337-254-1016.
