In light of recent events at an outdoor music festival in Las Vegas authorities in Ascension Parish have reviewed and revitalized their security measures for this weekend's Inaugural Flambeau Fest. The event is scheduled for this weekend at the Lamar Dixon Center near Gonzales and will feature two days filled with local, regional, and national musical acts.

Sheriff Jeff Wiley told the Louisiana Radio Network that the event has always had a great security plan.

So what we thought was a really, really good plan and was, is now a really, really, much better plan given the realities of something occurring somewhere else.

Flambeau Fest features Nashville recording artist Sam Hunt, Dustin Lynch, Chase Rice and others. The event also features country music legend Hank WIlliams Jr., legendary rockers Lynyrd Skynyrd. and others.

Single-day and weekend passes are still available it does look as if the weather forecast for the weekend will be perfect for enjoying an outdoor music festival.

Sheriff Wiley says concert goers will notice the security effort that he and his team will be employing. The sheriff calls the security plan "widespread and obvious". Which should put anyone's mind at ease as far as safety concerns.
