Flood Watches Posted For Much Of Acadiana
An approaching storm system which is expected to begin impacting Acadiana later today is not only bringing a severe weather threat to the area. It is also bringing a threat of heavy rain and flooding.
The National Weather Service has posted a Flash Flood Watch for the southwest corner of the state from the Texas line to the west, the Atchafalaya Basin to the east, and U.S. Highway 28 to the north.
Forecasters believe showers and thunderstorms this afternoon, evening, and early Monday could bring an additional 3 to 4 inches of rain to an area that was soaked by another storm system just a few days ago.
A Severe Thunderstorm Watch has been posted for much of East Texas this morning. It is likely that severe weather watches and warnings will be pushed to the east into Louisiana as the approaching weather maker gets close.
