Since I have been down a few weeks with the flu I haven't driven my vehicle much. However, this past weekend I finally arrived at fill up time was a little shocked, not a lot shocked, but a little shocked at how much more that fill-up cost me compared to my last fill-up.

So I did some snooping and Triple-A, The American Automobile Association, confirmed my suspicions. Gas prices have gone up a little bit since the first of the month. In fact, on average, the price of a gallon of regular fuel will set you back .12 cents more today than it would have on Groundhog's day.

The statewide average for a price of regular gas is $2.13. However, we've done some a little sleuthing and found that in the Lafayette area you can find fuel priced as low as $1.96 for a gallon of regular.

Triple-A says the national average for a gallon of regular is $2.39 with the highest prices in California, Washington, Oregon, New York, and a few other places. Still, when you compare prices to what we were paying a year ago, fuel is still about .20 cents cheaper per gallon than what we are paying now.

So I guess we can count our blessings that the price of fuel isn't too high. Now, if we could get oil prices back up so we could have a little more stability in the oil patch, I'd be willing to pay a lot more for fuel.
